PREPnet Acceptable Use Policy and Agreement Purpose The purpose of PREPnet is to enhance and support research and education activities, and to foster economic development within Pennsylvania by providing and promoting high speed data communications facilities and services. Acceptable Use Acceptable uses of PREPnet include, but are not limited to, the following: ¥ Use for purposes of, or in support of, education and research. ¥ Use for purposes of technology transfer or the economic development of Pennsylvania. ¥ Traffic must originate or terminate at a PREPnet member or affiliate organization. ¥ Traffic exiting PREPnet to the NSFNET backbone or other networks to which PREPnet may be connected is governed by the policies of those networks. (Attached is a copy of the NSFNET Acceptable Use Policy). Unacceptable Use ¥ Use of PREPnet for illegal purposes or for unauthorized access to systems, software or data. ¥ Activities that interfere with the ability of others to effectively use PREPnet or other facilities connected to the network. ¥ Commercial usage that does not meet the above criteria for acceptability. Conditions ¥ Violations of this policy may result in the expulsion of the member or affiliate from PREPnet, termination of PREPnet services, and forfeiture of all fees paid to date. ¥ Questions related to acceptable use should be directed to the PREPnet Network Information Center.
